Newly Qualified Solicitor (Litigation) Belfast
Overview
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Newly Qualified Solicitor to join a specialist insurance defence litigation team in Belfast. The role will involve supporting senior solicitors on complex matters while also developing and managing your own caseload. This is an ideal position for a driven and ambitious solicitor keen to build expertise in high quality litigation work.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting in the progression of matters, including discovery, analysis of evidence, liaising with counsel and third-party experts, trial preparation, and legal research.
- Managing and developing your own caseload under supervision.
- Conducting witness interviews and drafting statements.
- Drafting pleadings, applications, and other court documents.
- Liaising with clients, insurers, witnesses, and other parties in a professional and efficient manner.
- Instructing counsel, attending conferences, mediations, settlement meetings, and court hearings (both in person and remotely).
- Ensuring files are progressed in line with client instructions and agreed performance standards.
- Maintaining accurate and up to date case management systems.
- Ensuring compliance with LSNI regulations and court practice rules.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Qualified solicitor (NQ) with a genuine interest in insurance defence litigation.
- Previous relevant legal experience (including during training) desirable.
- Strong drafting, analytical, and research skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Good advocacy skills and confidence in client interaction.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.
- A positive, proactive, and professional approach with strong attention to detail.
