Head of Property Development
Henderson Group Property Limited, a division of one of Northern Irelands most established family businesses, is seeking to fill the role of Head of Property Development. The Group operates well-known retail brands including SPAR, EUROSPAR, ViVO, and ViVOXtra, employing over 5,400 people and generating revenues of £1.4 billion in 2024. Its operations cover Wholesale, Retail, Foodservice, and Property sectors.
Henderson Group Property specialises in acquiring and developing petrol forecourts and neighbourhood retail schemes. Their projects encompass the full cycle from site acquisition to construction and handover, with tenants including recognized brands such as Subway and Winemark.
The Head of Property Development will report directly to the Group Property Director and lead the capital development program for the Group’s retail estate. This pivotal leadership position involves managing multiple high-value projects from initial conception through to completion, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to exacting standards. The role includes leading a skilled in-house team and collaborating closely with various stakeholders to shape the future retail property portfolio and support ongoing growth.
Key skills for the role:
- Proven track record of success in a leadership role within a large, multi-site retail organisation.
- Experience of working as a member of a Senior Leadership Team which has full accountability for operational performance.
- Experience of leading and managing designs that are innovative and meet the needs of the brief.
- Demonstrable record of personally initiating business improvements within a property business.
- Good contemporary knowledge of the Northern Ireland construction market, supply chain and trends.
- Experience of delivering a multi-faceted programme of works.
- Experience of influencing a wide range of stakeholders both within and outside their organisation.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Ability to inspire and engage with colleagues, being an exemplar of our Core Values.
