Main Purpose of Job

Enforce litter and waste legislation, including The Litter (NI) Order 1994 and The Police and Criminal Evidence (NI) Order 1989.

Support educational and awareness programmes on littering and environmental quality.

Complete duties to specified time and quality targets.
Key Duties
-
Patrol public areas, detect offences, issue fixed penalty notices, investigate complaints, prepare evidence, and attend court when required.

Liaise with PSNI, Environmental Health Officers, and other bodies on street cleanliness issues.

Identify litter hotspots, graffiti, and fly-posting, reporting to Enforcement Officer.

Monitor commercial waste presentation and provide compliance advice to businesses.

Promote anti-litter campaigns and assist in public education.

Maintain accurate records and produce reports.
-
Use equipment such as cameras, communication systems, and IT systems.
-
Assist in training new staff and participate in recruitment interviews.

Adhere to health and safety procedures, including wearing PPE in all weather conditions.
Essential Criteria
Qualifications:

5 GCSEs (AC) including English, or equivalent.
Experience (minimum 1 year in each area):
-
Public interaction in an enforcement/legislative role (e.g., litter enforcement, dog control, alcohol enforcement).

Administrative work, including written reports and record keeping.
