Role:
Action Mental Health’s counselling service provides counselling/therapy to children and young people in the community and in mainstream schools, special schools and EOTAS provisions. The post holder will be a member of the Action Mental Health’s Child, Young People and Family team, providing safe and confidential therapy to children and young people seeking therapeutic support.
Our counselling service offers a blended delivery (face-to-face and digital). Whilst the office base will be in Belfast, the role may include face-to-face delivery in the SEHSCT area.
You will have (essential):
Professional qualification in counselling or psychotherapy with children and young people (minimum Diploma level or equivalent) or professional qualification in Art, Music, Drama (minimum Master’s level or RQF level equivalent).
Accredited with BACP, HCPC, UKCP, IACP, BAAT or AFT or equivalent, or committed to achieve within 12 months.
Therapists must have full membership with the relevant body; i.e. BAAT, BADth, BAMT, or willing and eligible to obtain it upon appointment. Play therapists: hold full membership of PTUK, or BAPT and be PTUK accredited.
Experience of working with children and young people in a clinical setting whilst attaining qualification or subsequent to qualification
Experience of working clinically within statutory and/or voluntary agencies
25 hours of personal therapy
A full current driving licence valid for use in the UK and access to a vehicle which will meet the needs of the role (consideration will be given to alternative travelling proposals in respect of applicants with a disability who cannot hold a licence)
