To support the provision of efficient and effective business support services across Belfast City Council through administrative duties, basic IT use, and direct customer interaction. This includes individual and team-based tasks, maintaining performance standards, and ensuring high customer care.
Your Duties:
- Provide general clerical support (filing, photocopying, processing mail).
- Handle business support tasks such as call handling, cash handling, data entry, and retrieval.
- Produce documents via word processing (including from audio) and assist in presentations.
- Use a range of IT systems (Outlook, Word, Excel, Council software).
- Assist in gathering and distributing statistical and performance data.
- Support HR, finance, customer service, and IT administrative tasks.
- Schedule meetings, prepare agendas, and take minutes.
- Deliver excellent customer service through all communication channels.
- Operate office equipment such as laminators, binders, shredders, etc.
- Prioritise personal tasks and contribute to team objectives.
- Participate in training and development activities.
- Perform additional duties as required within the scope of the role.
- Must have the right to work in the UK.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a business support, administrative, or clerical role, ideally within a public sector or customer-focused environment.
- Candidates must have financial/ purchase order systems experience.

- Able to complete standard forms, draft letters, and accurately take meeting minutes.

- Communicates clearly and effectively with colleagues, managers, and customers.
Teamwork:
- Works collaboratively within a team to support shared objectives and maintain a positive working environment.
Customer Service:
- Understands and responds to the needs of both internal and external customers in a professional and helpful manner.
IT Literacy:
- Confident in using Microsoft Office (particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel) and able to input and retrieve data from relevant systems.
Your Benefits:
- £13.05 per hour.

Additional Information:
- Full time, Temporary.
- Cecil Ward Building, Belfast.
- 37 hours per week, Office-based 5 days per week – Monday to Thursday, 9:00-17:00, Friday 9:00 to 4:30.
