Transport Manager

South Down | Full-time, Permanent | £40,000 £50,000 DOE

Energis is recruiting for an experienced Transport Manager on behalf of our client based in South Down. This is a key role, responsible for managing and coordinating the companys transport operations across Northern Ireland, the UK, Ireland, and occasionally mainland Europe.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring compliance, efficiency, and effective movement of goods, while maintaining high standards in safety and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate all transport logistics including shipping of loads, trailers, and return of unaccompanied units

  • Book ferries and ensure proper scheduling of shipments

  • Manage driver hours in line with RHA and VOSA guidelines

  • Obtain permits for abnormal loads across the UK and Ireland

  • Ensure adherence to legal weight limits on all loads

  • Maintain availability and compliance of vehicles for inspections and PSVs

  • Arrange breakdown recovery across the UK

  • Organise driver holiday cover and rota management

Criteria:

  • Proven experience in a transport/logistics management role

  • Strong working knowledge of:

    • Shipping and ferry bookings

    • Freight documentation

    • VOSA regulations and Drivers Hours compliance

    • Vehicle maintenance scheduling and PSV booking

    • Efficient back-load logistics and mileage reduction strategies

  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise under pressure

  • Good IT proficiency

  • Flexibility to adjust working hours if required

Salary:£40,000 £50,000 depending on experience
