About the Role
As Company Accountant, you’ll be the go-to person for all day-to-day finance operations and reporting. You’ll work closely with the company directors to ensure the financial health of the business and provide accurate, timely reporting to support decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly management accounts, including P&L and balance sheet
- Handle year-end accounts prep and liaise with external accountants/auditors
- Maintain the general ledger, posting journals and reconciling accounts
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable, including subcontractor payments
- Manage bank reconciliations, credit card statements, and petty cash
- Prepare and submit VAT returns, CIS returns, and liaise with HMRC
- Track project costs and assist with job costing for construction projects
- Support budgeting, cashflow forecasting and financial planning
- Act as a key point of contact for suppliers, customers, and internal staff
- Provide ad-hoc reporting and financial insight to company directors
About You
We’re looking for someone who is organised, self-motivated, and comfortable operating in a varied and hands-on finance role. You should enjoy working in a family-run environment where you can take ownership and make a visible impact.
You will have:
- Part-qualified CIMA/ACCA, qualified Accounting Technician (IATI), or equivalent experience
- Strong working knowledge of Sage 50 and ideally Sage 200
- Solid experience in management accounting, VAT, and reconciliations
- Familiarity with CIS and construction industry financial processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing deadlines
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
