MCS Group is delighted to be working alongside a leading structural steel manufacturer in Northern Ireland to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a long-established, high-growth business with a reputation for quality, safety, and excellence in structural steel fabrication.
As Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in the financial and contractual management of a portfolio of steel fabrication projects across the UK and Ireland. You’ll work closely with commercial, production, and site teams to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and profitably, while maintaining strong client and subcontractor relationships.
You will be responsible for;
- Overseeing commercial and contractual activities from tender through to final account.
- Preparing detailed cost plans, project valuations, and progress reports.
- Managing subcontractor procurement, performance, and payments.
- Reviewing and interpreting tender documentation and contract terms.
- Identifying and managing commercial risks, variations, and claims.
- Liaising with internal departments including estimating, design, and production to ensure commercial accuracy.
- Attending site visits and client meetings to support ongoing project delivery.
- Maintaining up-to-date records and commercial reporting using internal systems.
Criteria:
- Experience in a Quantity Surveying role within structural steel, steel fabrication, or construction.
- Strong working knowledge of contract law and common forms of contract
- Confident communicator with strong negotiation and analytical skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with industry-specific software is an advantage.
- Full UK driving licence
