Joiner £15.33 per hour

Job Purpose:
To carry out a full range of joinery tasks for council properties, including repairs, maintenance, and installationseither independently or as part of a team.

Key Duties:

• Carry out joinery repairs and maintenance (planned and reactive).

• Work from technical drawings.

• Order and collect materials as needed.

• Record time and job costs accurately.

• Participate in the emergency call-out rota if required.

• Drive council vehicles to transport tools and materials.

• Erect and dismantle scaffolding; work safely at heights.

• Assist in training and mentoring apprentices, new staff, and contractors.

• Comply with all health and safety regulations and council policies.

• Supervise staff if required and ensure high service standards.

• Represent the council professionally at all times.

Essential Criteria:

• Time-served Joiner or equivalent (e.g., City & Guilds Parts 1 and 2 in Carpentry and Joinery).

• Full, current driving licence valid in Northern Ireland or access to transport*.

• Minimum one years experience in:

  • Building maintenance.

  • Benchwork and joinery repairs in commercial properties.
