Simulation Engineer (FEA/DEM) Role Overview

If you are you a skilled Simulation Engineer with expertise in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Discrete Element Modelling (DEM) and a background in Bulk Materials Handling, this would be the perfect career move for you.

Simulation Engineer (FEA/DEM) Pay and Benefits

  • Salary £65,000 – £90,000 (negotiable)
  • Working Hours: 8:30am – 5:00pm with flexibility (100% office-based role)
  • Realistic career progression / career growth opportunities

  • Company will support Work Permits requirements where required

Simulation Engineer (FEA/DEM) Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience in FEA and DEM, with a strong understanding of underlying principles and methods.
  • Demonstrable experience in the Mining, Bulk Material Handling / Material Handling industries.
  • Proficiency in simulation software (ANSYS, Abaqus, EDEM, Rocky DEM, or similar tools).
  • Experience in optimizing designs for performance, durability, and efficiency, with a familiarity of CAD software and integration of CAD models into simulation workflows.
  • Solid understanding of material properties, structural mechanics, and dynamics.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret and apply engineering standards and practices.
  • Excellent communication skills for presenting technical findings to diverse audiences.
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required.

Simulation Engineer (FEA/DEM) Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to evaluate structural performance, stresses, and deformation of components.
  • Utilize Discrete Element Modelling (DEM) to simulate material flow and interactions in complex systems.
  • Develop and validate simulation models to support design and engineering decisions.
  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams to optimize product performance and ensure feasibility.
  • Interpret simulation results and present findings in clear, actionable reports.
  • Identify and propose innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of all analyses, models, and outcomes.
