Vickerstock are delighted to be working in partnership with our specialist food services client on the appointment of Food Safety & Technical Assistant for their Newtownards based site.
Reporting to the Managing Director, you will support in all areas of Quality, Safety & Legality within the business, ensuring products meet customer expectations.
This role will be a 12-month fixed term contract with view to extend.
What your day to day will look like:
- Maintain and develop the Quality Manual and management systems to meet BRCGS and customer standards, including managing audits and supporting the HACCP team with reviews, risk assessments, and product flows.
- Liaise with customers, suppliers, Procurement, and Sales to resolve quality and food safety issues, ensuring product compliance with internal and external standards.
- Approve, manage, and monitor suppliers and service providers to ensure compliance with supplier approval criteria and traceability throughout the supply chain.
- Handle customer complaints and non-conformances, ensuring timely corrective actions and continuous improvement in product safety, legality, authenticity, and quality.
- Manage the completion and updating of product specifications, oversee staff training, and promote a positive food safety culture across the business.
What you will need to succeed:
- Clean UK/EU driving license.
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience working in a Quality / Technical role and/or a Third level qualification Degree or HNC/D in a relevant food related discipline or proven relevant experience.
- Ability to effectively plan and organise to meet deadlines.
- Strong IT skills and an ability to record and present information in a concise format.
- The ability to work well under pressure and to play your role in a busy team environment.
- Excellent communicator with positive leadership skills Demonstrate self-motivation and the ability to work independently.
Desirable Criteria (it would be great if you have these but don’t worry if you don’t!):
- HACCP Level 3
- Food Safety Level 3
- Auditing Level 3
- Root Cause Analysis Training
- Experience of online specification systems e.g. Foods Connected
